REALLY!!!

Ha! Remember when he disguised himself as a homeless man and slept on the streets for a week to interview the homeless in Chicago? I'm doing the same thing but with novice brewers.

I was more curious than anything. I think it's a great idea; more power to him! As I said above, though, just like any "tutor" prices should be appropriate to one's experience and the "lessons" learned. If he's imparting tons of beer knowledge throughout the brew session, then I think it's worth it. If he's just standing there chit-chatting with them as they watch him brew, maybe not.

Is he selling the recipes or selling his beer? Is it illegal to sell recipes?

Here was his reply. I think just like any "tutor," the fee being charged should be commensurate with the skills and experience of the person teaching. What boils down to $25-$30/hour or less I think is just a little too steep for his level of experience and only extract. What do others think?

No worries at all. I've been brewing for about 4 years, and have a list of about 15 recipes I'm really proud of ranging from lighter ales to stouts/porters/doplebocks. I have been selling 4 of those recipes under the table for about a year and receiving rave reviews. I should probably put some background information in my ad...To date, I've never had a batch fail or never had a batch that was undrinkable, although some are definitely better than others.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to answer them. As far as the beer we would brew, we could go with one of my recipes, we could get an off the shelf kit, or you could tell me what you like and I can come up with something based on that.
