So we have our new kegerator in place now, which will be operational soon. There is currently a tap tower conected to the bar, this is merely to look cool for the moment, it will soon be drilled in and plumbed on top of the kegerator in the back bar. This means that the hole for a tap tower in the bar will still be open. I discussed this today with the folks who were helping us put it in, I just wanted to get it on the forum and get some ideas going. I think the best thing to do with that hole in the front bar is to install a 6-tap tower. This tower would be used for parties, day to day it would be hooked up to nothing. We could theoretically plumb it to the kegerator as well but that would take a lot of cooling power and insulation for somehthing that wouldn't see a lot of use. It will be in place in the bar, but it will terminate in ball lock fittings which will be clipped up under the bar on hooks when not in use. When it comes party time, we put 6 corny kegs in ice buckets under the bar, hook them up to the fittings and boom, super professional looking presentation. clean the lines after and hang them back up. It will really clean up our presentation and make serving and whatnot look more professional and generally be a lot easier, that area gets to be a mess with picnic taps leaking everywhere etc. Below is an example, its a really expensive example, I think we can buy some pipe similar to what we used for the drink rail and even have it chrome plated if we wanted too for a whole lot less money, although someone would need to figure out the specifics on that for us..http://www.micromatic.com/6-faucet/metropolis-t-6-304-faucets-polished-s...

Tap Towers
A quick search yielded this one too. I think we can do something ourselves or have it fabricated for us a lot cheaper. We basically need some pipe with 6 holes drilled in it so we can fit taps and lines through it..http://www.wholesaledraft.com/6-tap-faucet-beer-tower-nsf.html
I think it might be cool if it matched the pipes on the drink rail. Not sure about chroming it though. Probably need 3" or 4" pipe to get six lines through.
The emperor is not as forgiving as i am
Sounds like a good plan to me
Can the tower on the front of the bar not be permanent? I think bolting in place for the quarterly parties would be amazing, but the rest of the time it would hinder people chatting on both sides of the bar.
I wasn't able to see when the fridge was going in - why does the new fridge not work under the bar on the East side?
@griswold That's certainly something we can keep in mind as this project moves forward, we kind of just have to see how it shapes up and what we end up buying to see if that's a possibility.
@Matt The new fridge does not work under the front of the bar for a few reasons. First it was designed and sold specifically as a back bar unit and it fits in our back bar quite nicely, it was also in the back bar at Blue Frog. Placing it there also makes the necessary plumbing runs for the glass rinser and drain a straight shot down the wall. Finally we initially had it under the front bar but found that it was simply too deep to comfortably leave it there, the front of it hung out too far and it would make actually serving at the bar very difficult because you would be leaning and reaching over too far. After getting it wedged in the bar in the front bar position, Conrad, Chuck, and I all agreed that it really needed to be in the back bar, it was a monumental task to get it flipped and in the back bar location, we certainly would not have done all that extra work if it wasn't worth the effort, we felt it made a huge difference. For Reference here is a link to what I believe is our fridge, we might have the 3 keg version but I'm pretty sure its the 5er. http://www.micromatic.com/micro-matic-pro-line-back-bar-refrigerators/mi...
From my experience standing behind the bar for 3+ hours on Saturday, being in the back is the best location. It is really, really, nice having some extra space in the front for moving around.
let me know if you need some plumbing help....
