Yesterday the keezer got cleaning and organizing. Taps were cleaned & sanitized and brand new lines were run. I am going to do some labeing to make things easier to identify. Lets talk about keeping that thing clean so it dosent get that way again.
- Simply put, if you have a beer on tap, you need to clean that line when it blows. This should be done with boiling water and PBW from your keg. Let it sit for 15 minutes to break up any beer stone in the line/tap. Sanitize when done. You have to clean/sanitize your keg anyways, take 5 mins for this please.
- Try and keep kegs that are not going to be on tap on the hump to the left.
- If you make a mess, clean it up. It is inevitable that beer will collect in the bottom - we just need to be diligent in mopping it up periodically. (That being said, I had made a mess yesterday after I cleaned the entire thing and I will have to take care of it Tuesday. Cest la vie.)
- Respect other people's beer. Goes without saying, if it is not to be touched, do not touch it (Sorry Rich).

Along the same lines of keeping beers that aren't on tap on the hump, try to make sure that any beers on the hump are arranged so that the gas/beer lines connecting to the keg do not prevent the lid from closing.
Also, it might be nice to have some way of hanging unused lines someplace on the collar so that they're not getting completely tangled and/or dangling down in the muck at the bottom of the keezer.

To add to great advice, if you are carving a beer make sure that the lid or anywhere with seals on your keg is securely sealed. Once you have the gas connected spray the keg with starsan to check for any leaks. If you see bubbles, you have a leak that needs attention. Leaks drain the co2 which means no gas to serve beer. That makes me sad.
